Chukwuma Charles Soludo is a distinguished economist with a B.Sc in Economics (First Class Hons), M.Sc, and Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where he received numerous awards for academic excellence. He has completed fellowships and courses at renowned institutions such as Cambridge, Oxford, Warwick, and the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. At age 38, he became a professor of economics and later served as a visiting professor at Swarthmore College in the USA. He has over 200 publications to his name.

Before entering government service in 2003, Prof. Soludo traveled to 45 countries, working as a scholar and consultant for 21 international financial and development organizations, including the World Bank, IMF, AfDB, EU, USAID, UK-DFID, UNCTAD, and UNDP.

He has held several key positions in Nigeria, including Chief Economic Adviser to President Obasanjo and Deputy Chairman/CEO of the National Planning Commission. He also served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Chairman of the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company Plc. Additionally, he co-founded and was the founding chairman of the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC).

Prof. Soludo’s efforts in transforming Nigeria’s banking and financial system have earned him over 160 national and international awards, including being named African and Global Best Central Bank Governor for three consecutive years by the Financial Times/Banker Magazine and Euromoney. In 2006, he received the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR).

Since March 17, 2022, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has served as the Governor of Anambra State, where he has made remarkable strides in enhancing the region’s infrastructure and promoting rural development. Notably, he has accomplished these feats without resorting to borrowing, a testament to his commitment to fiscal responsibility and sustainable growth. Under his leadership, the state has witnessed significant improvements in roads, healthcare, education, and public services, fostering an environment conducive to economic development and community well-being.

His impressive track record of achievements has not gone unnoticed, earning him the prestigious title of 2023 Governor of the Year. This accolade reflects his dedication to transforming Anambra into a model of progressive governance. Globally recognized as “Mr. Transformation,” he has become a beacon of hope and inspiration for many. In Anambra, he is affectionately celebrated as “The Solution Is Here,” a slogan that embodies his vision of effective leadership and his promise to deliver tangible solutions to the challenges facing the state.
